Introduction

This article introduces the new Barracuda Email Gateway Defense user interface, designed to enhance email security with a modern look and feel. This guide will walk you through the updated UI's essential features, including navigating to the Message Log, viewing quarantined messages, and managing them effectively. Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure you have:

- Access to the Barracuda Email Gateway Defense system.

- Appropriate permissions to view and manage quarantined messages.

- An active user account with login credentials.

 

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Logging into the Barracuda Email Gateway Defense Interface

1. Go to the Barracuda Email Gateway Defense portal: Using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, navigate to "https://us.ess.barracudanetworks.com/webui/login" in the URL. 

 

 

 

 

You can also access Barracuda through Outlook from the daily Barracuda Networks' Email Gateway Defense Quarantine Notification email by clicking the Manage Quarantine button.

 

 

2. Login credentials: Use your work email and Office365 password. If this is your first time logging in, you may be prompted to verify your login through the Authenticator app.     

 

 

3. Enabling Cookies: If the cookies message appears, click "Accept All Cookies" to stop the message from appearing each time you log in.  

 

Step 2: Accessing the Message Log

1. From the dashboard, locate the Message Log tab on the left-hand sidebar.

2. Click on the Message Log to view a list of recent inbound and outbound emails, including quarantined messages.

 

Step 3: Managing Quarantined Messages

1. In the Message Log, you will see a filter for Quarantined messages under the Action Taken drop-down. Select this option to view all available actions.

 

                                                           

2. Review the list of quarantined messages. Each entry includes details like the sender, subject, and reason for quarantine.

 

Step 4: Applying Filters and Searching Messages

1. Use the search bar at the top of the Message Log to search for specific messages. 

 

2. Using the available filter options, you can filter messages by sender, recipient, subject, or date range.

 

 

3. Apply the desired filters and click "Search" to narrow down the list.    In the example below, the filters are configured to display quarantined messages that have not been delivered in the last two days.

 

 

 

Step 5: Delivering or Deleting Emails

1. Select the message from the list to deliver or delete.

 

2. Click Deliver to deliver the email to your inbox.

 

3. Alternatively, click Delete to delete the email.

 

 

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues while navigating the new interface:

- Problem: Unable to log in.

  Solution:  Verify your credentials.  If the issue persists, please contact someone from the IT team.

  

- Problem: Unable to find the Message Log.

  Solution: Ensure you use the correct permissions or contact your system administrator for access.

  

- Problem: Filters not working.

  Solution: If applicable, clear your search filter or reload the interface. If the issue persists, try a different browser.

- Q: How do I know if a quarantined email is safe to release?

  A: Barracuda provides details on the reason for quarantine. Use discretion when releasing suspicious emails, and consult with IT if unsure.

 

- Q: Can I customize the filters in the Message Log?

- Q: What happens if I accidentally delete a quarantined email?
